About the City
Founded 3,000 years ago by the Phoenicians, Cádiz is the oldest city in Western Europe. The different peoples who settled here left an important cultural imprint, whose influences still remain in the character of the city's people. Due to its commercial importance and location on the Andalusian Atlantic coast, this peninsula has been able to preserve a valuable historical legacy that is only enhanced by its excellent beaches and exquisite regional cuisine. The famed Costa de la Luz, divided between the provinces of Huelva and Cádiz, also offers a multitude of destinations that combine culture and leisure. For nature lovers, there is nothing better than touring the Doñana National Park that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

With its intriguing cobblestone streets, long white houses, and golden domed cathedral in the middle of town, Cádiz maintains its Moorish influence that is an integral part of the Spanish culture.Unlike most other ports of its size it seems immediately relaxed and easy going, even at night. Perhaps this is due to its reassuring shape and size with the presence of the sea making it impossible to get lost for more than a few blocks.
