SPI Costa Rica

¡Pura Vida en Costa Rica!

Costa Rica has emerged as one of the most desirable Latin American destinations for high school summer study abroad programs. Our Costa Rica program spans two of the many fascinating geographic regions and eco-systems the country has to offer. Students will begin their language immersion experience in the cloud forest of Monteverde continued with a stay on the Pacific coast in Flamingo Beach in Guanacaste. The wonderful people of Costa Rica embody the beauty and warmth the country has to offer! SPI has selected our program sites in Costa Rica as ideal Spanish language immersion destinations with safety, authenticity, and livability at the forefront. Discover Costa Rica!

SPI Spanish Language Immersion in Costa Rica

The core of each SPI summer program in Costa Rica is a caring homestay experience, intensive Spanish language courses, first class afternoon elective activities, and meaningful travel excursions guided by our on-site team of directors. The SPI Immersion Method focuses on the practical acquisition of Spanish by putting students in real world settings where they grow linguistically and culturally. Courses are held in the mornings with other participants at an accredited Spanish language institute or university and are taught by teachers who hold advanced degrees. Students may petition for college elective credit at their future university.

SPI Global Leadership Program

In 2013, SPI will launch our global leadership program in Spain, France, and Costa Rica. The program offers the best of SPI language immersion programs with an added emphasis on international business, leadership, and college prep. Students will participate in our standard intensive Spanish or French language immersion in the mornings and then participate in our global leadership program in the afternoon. The program is designed to not only immerse students in the language and culture, but also give them firsthand experience and insight into how foreign governments, businesses, and educational institutions operate through in person visits, meetings, and speakers.
