FAQ

Why SPI?

What Makes SPI the Best Choice?  (Since 1996!)

Founded in 1996 by master world language educators, SPI has been a leader in high school study abroad programs.  Our programs combine serious language immersion that give students hands-on, real life experiences in a safe environment with top-notch educators as their mentors.   Students, parents and teachers continue to rave about SPI programs year after year.  Why?  Because SPI programs work, and they make a lasting impact on students’ lives forever!  We invite you to learn more about our methodology and mission on our main Programs Page.

Can I Speak to Alumni Families?

Absolutely!  We highly encourage prospective parents and students to connect with our long list of alumni from across the country and world!  This gives an insightful feel for our programs from firsthand experience. Please contact us for references or you may visit our Alumni Reference Page.

Student Body and Program Dynamics

All SPI programs are led by an on-site program director and a team of teacher travelers depending on the group size.  Our groups maintain a 1 to 8 faculty/student ratio and programs are comprised of students from around the U.S./Canada and other international schools.  Most students come to our programs individually (some travel with a friend or small group) from public and private schools. The gender break down tends to have about 60% female and 40% male but this is dependent on the year and program.  We do not release exact numbers of student participation until 1 month prior to program departure as many late enrollments can affect the total number of participants.

Safety & Supervision

We encourage visiting our safety and supervision page to learn about how we care for each student and their well-being.
