Paris Extension Itinerary:
| Day 1 | Depart for Paris, France. |
| Day 2 | Bienvenue en France! Arrive Paris CDG Airport.Transfer to your hotel located in the center of the city. After a short break to freshen up, you will depart for your first private SPI Paris Immersion Experience (“PIE”) session. These sessions will not only take you to some of Paris’ most acclaimed sites, but also immerse you into the language and the daily Parisian way of life.“PIE” SESSION 1-PARIS LIFE, SHOPPING, DINING: We will start off with a Paris orientation lunch to help students learn the transportation system, understand the many distinct neighborhoods of Paris, how to handle and budget Euros, and learn common transportation vocabulary. After lunch, set out to explore Paris most famed shopping street where Napoleon marched with this troop – the Champs-Elysees! Start at the Arc d’Triomphe and make your way all the way to Galleries Lafayette. Enjoy an afternoon coffee atop the Galleries Lafayette outdoor terrace. Today we will learn/practice everything to do with shopping, dining and transportation. Return to the hotel in the late evening for a nice meal with your group and in bed early to get over jet-lag. |
| Day 3 | “PIE” SESSION 2-MODERN ART & ARCHITECTURE: After breakfast and a morning orientation/vocabulary briefing, head to the Centre Pompidou for a 20th century perspective on art. Enjoy the museum and enjoy lunch exploring the Marais/Les Halles area of the city. Discuss the works and influence of Matisse and Picasso. In the afternoon enjoy some of the right banks many boutique shops walking down the Ile de la Cite to the vibrant Latin Quarter where you will enjoy a coffee or tea discussing some of Paris many layers of history. Return to the hotel for a short nap and to get ready for dinner and an evening boat cruise. After dinner, be inspired by the City of Lights as it comes to life on a 45 minutes tour by boat! | Day 4 | “PIE” SESSION 3 19th CENTURY ART & PARIS LIFE: After breakfast you will have an in-depth French tutoring session at an outdoor café with Madame Mack. After tutoring, enjoy a packed lunch around the Jardin des Tuilleries/L’orangerie and see the famous Monet “Nympheas.” Spend, the rest of the afternoon in Giverny where you will visit Monet’s beautiful Paris home and gardens. You will enjoy a guided tour of the home in France to learn about Monet’s life and works. Return back to the hotel in the evening and enjoy dinner in the St. Germain district. | Day 5 | Regular Biarritz Summer 1 students arrive Paris! Enjoy the day getting to know your group and exploring some of Paris’ most famed sites. Visit the Eiffel Tower, the historic Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum. Other possible explorations include Montmarte, Arc de Triomphe, and Place de la Concorde. Finish off a great day having dinner with your group before going to bed early. (Breakfast Included – Lunch & Dinner on your own) |
