Student have arrived into Oaxaca and are enjoying their first meal with their homestay families!

This morning students woke up to their first typical Mexican breakfast with their families. This morning the grupo explored the ruins of Monte Alban near Oaxaca city. Probably one of the best preserved artifacts in central Mexico! After a wonderful visit and lots of pictures, they headed back to town to enjoy lunch and siesta at home.
Later in the afternoon the group met at the main plaza to explore the central part of Oaxaca where all the locals gather every Sunday to enjoy a stroll around the plaza....ice cream, cafes, kids....soaking up the Oaxaca culture.

First day of classes! The students also enjoyed a short cooking class during one of their breaks from class. After class they went on a tour of the city led by the school staff. The kids are starting to already feel at home - buying ice creams on their own, phone cards, etc.
Kelly, our wonderful director has informed me that we have arranged some intercambio (exchanges) with local students this afternoon to practice their Spanish and learn about the local culture and way of life. The kids are really starting to immerse she says!
