SPI Programs

On-Site Directors

International Mom & Dads

SPI directors serve as international ‘mom and dads’ and are available 24 hours a day to students throughout the program. We maintain a 1 to 8 director to student ratio.  Directors are multi-lingual and are extensively trained in leading SPI programs with immersion as the primary focus.  View On-Site Director Profiles & Bios

Personal Attention

Each director carries a cell phone to ensure student safety and support around the clock. They check in with students on a daily basis in the mornings and afternoons and monitor all aspects of student’s progressing throughout the program. Homestay families are contacted frequently to check-in and learn how the student is progress or to handle any concerns. Our small group sizes guarantee each student receives personal attention from their directors and teachers from start to finish.

Training & Experience

Most all SPI on-site directors are professional educators and work year round as classroom foreign language teachers.  Directors are selected based on their experience working with teenagers in an international setting, their ability to communicate fluently in the language of study, and their academic & professional background.  Both our on-site directors and teacher travelers go through an intense training period before the start of each program.

Teacher Travelers

Our on-site directors are assisted each summer by additional teachers that are traveling with their own students.  Teacher travelers provide students with an additional support person in the event they need assistance.
