Tuesday: This morning, we had tons of fun organizing (and joining in) games in the plaza for local schoolchildren: tug-of-war, capture the flag, octopus, arts and crafts, hopscotch, basketball, and of course, a soccer match! Students got to practice their Spanish by instructing the children in each game, and we all had many laughs as kids, students, and adults alike played together. We hope to repeat this again on Friday!
Today is also Riley’s 17th birthday. We’ve already sung a couple renditions of ‘Feliz Cumpleaños’, and will be celebrating with cake shortly!
After classes, students will be lounging in the Jacuzzi area during some extended free time. No doubt the group obsession with Foosball and chess will also fill this time.
Wednesday: Students enjoyed a free morning today — many headed to the center of town to enjoy breakfast crepes, while others soaked up a relaxing morning with their familias ticas. This afternoon, after classes, the group will be attending a Latin dance class before heading home. Baile, baile!
Thursday: This morning, we did some volunteer work — painting the house of Doña Ingrid. Lois wins the award for hardest worker with least complaints! All put in a good effort, and we were able to leave the house looking bright and refreshed before midday.
After classes, a small group of us will be going on a night hike, while the others enjoy free time. Ice cream, milkshakes, and crepes are at the top of students’ to-do lists!
