4 weeks has gone by entirely too fast. It feels like our Summer 2 students just arrived… in fact, it feels like our Month students just arrived! Regardless of time or program, Costa Rica has been incredibly good to us. We all had experiences we will never forget. In the last week we served our community, participated in a multitude of activities, deepened our understanding of the Spanish language and Costa Rican culture and sadly, finished with difficult goodbyes.
Below is a recap of our week. Featured are events and activities we enjoyed, beautiful Costa Rica and, of course, the smiling faces of our students. Costa Rica, you will be missed. Rest assured, we will be back.
Monday — Spent the morning swimming and body surfing at Danta beach followed by Latin cooking class!
Tuesday — Volunteering! Another morning of painting and pouring cement floors in the nearby community of Lorena. After Spanish classes, students went to homestays to watch the Costa Rica national soccer team face Canada in the Gold Cup.
Wednesday — Free morning, spent time with host families before heading to Spanish classes in the p.m.
Thursday — Community service continues! Back to Lorena to finish painting and build playhouse for kids
Friday — Spectacular morning with 90 minute Catamaran cruise from Tamarindo to snorkeling point. Snorkelers saw multitude of colorful fish plus a puffer fish. Many had the chance to hold an octopus and sea urchins. Last day of classes followed by graduation ceremony and final trip to beach for a sunset swim.
Saturday — The group returned to Liberia for departures and final goodbyes. It was a heartfelt site as students embraced and made plans to return… together.
