Welcome to Summer 2017!

Welcome to Summer 2017!

Hello from all of us at SPI Study Abroad! We’re less than a month away from the start of summer 2017! We hope you’re getting excited for the unforgettable adventures, priceless memories and countless new friendships that you will make while immersed abroad.

Here are some ways you can begin preparing for your experience:

1)Familiarize yourself with the student orientation portal. Here you’ll find an copies of orientation and program materials — orientation guide, parent departure day guide, standards of conduct, insurance coverage and, if you missed them, pre-departure emails. There is also important information on what is required for travel, important reminders, director contact information and our orientation videos.

2) Look over your Student & Parent Orientation Guide. This booklet will help prepare you for everything you need to know — whether you’re curious about cell phone usage while abroad, how to pack for the weather in your program city, or just want to get a better idea of what your homestay experience will be like, the Orientation Guide is chock-full of super useful info! If you can’t locate your booklet, don’t worry, we’ve supplied an e-copy on the student orientation portal.

3) Watch our Orientation Videos! We have developed videos that detail information on everything from pre-departure to getting around town while abroad. All of these can also be found on the student orientation portal so that you can review them at your convenience.

3) Join your Facebook program group! Note that SPI sends out a list of all the students on your program about 7-10 days before departure, but Facebook is always a great way to start getting connected before then.

4) Read through the pre-departure emails coming your way between now and then — we always send out at least 5 of these before the summer.

5) Connect with SPI on social media! We’re @spistudyabroad on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. We’re posting pictures, inspiring quotes, packing tips, and other fun stuff — like our pages to keep up with all the information!

6) Finally, when you are ready to start posting about your upcoming trip, don’t forget to use the hashtags #spistudyabroad and #myspistory

We can’t wait to spend the summer with you!
